Men's Soccer earned a gritty 2-0 victory on the road against Chandler-Gilbert Community College on Saturday night, continuing their strong start to the season with a commanding defensive performance and timely goal scoring.
Goalkeeper John Aguirre stood tall between the posts, making several critical saves to preserve the shutout and keep the Coyotes off the scoreboard. His composure under pressure anchored a Puma backline that remained disciplined and organized from the opening whistle to the final moments.
With CGCC pressing late in search of an equalizer, Gavin Sanchez capitalized on a counterattack, scoring the match-winner in the closing minutes to seal the victory for the Pumas. "It was great to see the guys play whistle to whistle to secure the win and the shutout," said Head Coach Christian DeVries. "We stayed composed, battled for every ball, and found a way to get the result."
With momentum building, the Pumas now turn their attention to their next challenge, a marquee road trip matchup against #1-ranked Phoenix College on Wednesday at 7:00pm. Fans are encouraged to come out and support the team as they look to take down the top team in the nation.
