Tuesday, April 7: PVCC 6, GWCC 5
The bottom of the lineup helped the Pumas capture a 6-5 victory over GateWay Geckos on Tuesday at Gene Autry Park.Gavin Gehrman, Brayden Likar, and Jude Almaraz combined for five of the team's eight hits in the victory. They scored three runs and drove in two.
GateWay Geckos 2026 opened the scoring in the second after Coggins tripled, scoring two runs.
After the Geckos got off to an early lean, Keith Eusebio homered to center field, which helped th Pumas tie the game at two in the top of the sixth.
A single by Gehrman gave the Pumas a 3-2 lead in the top of the seventh, but the lead didn't last long as GateWay captured the lead, 4-3, in the bottom of the seventh
A single by Almaraz gave the Pumas the lead, 6-4, in the top of the ninth.
Lizarraga earned the win for the Pumas. The southpaw allowed three hits and three runs (one earned) over three innings, striking out two and walking none. Jeremy Larson stepped on the bump first for Paradise Valley. The righty surrendered five hits and two runs (zero earned) over five innings, striking out five and walking one. Aiden Woolwine collected the save.
Likar and Almaraz each collected two hits for the Pumas. Eusebio, Gehrman, Almaraz, and Chris Quigg each drove in one run for the team.
Wednesday, April 8: PVCC 4, GWCC 0
The Pumas defeated GateWay 4-0 on Wednesday at Gene Autry Park as Grey Gusich and Dylan Droelle combined to throw a no-hit shutout for the Pumas.
The Pumas got on the board in the first when Matt Stewart doubled, scoring two runs.
Gusich earned the win for the Pumas. The righty surrendered zero hits and zero runs over eight innings, striking out four and walking three. Droelle tossed one inning of shutout ball for Paradise Valley in relief. The pitcher gave up zero hits, striking out none and walking none.
Stewart provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the team with three runs batted in. The catcher went 2-for-4 on the day. Coby Neville went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Pumas in hits. Brayden Likar stole two bases. The Pumas ran wild on the base paths, collecting three stolen bases for the game. Defensively, the Pumas were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error, Lucas Mitchell made the most plays with 10.
